OFFORD CLUNY PARISH COUNCIL NEWS - April 2008

This will be the last report for Offord Cluny Parish Council as we have at last succeeded in one of our objectives - The grouping of Offord Cluny and Offord Darcy into one council with full amalgamation due May 2010.

Contrary to my last report, when the 'Order' to group us was published, we found we had to stand for election. Four seats for Cluny and seven for Darcy - precisely the opposite number of the then current councillors.

Both councils were uncontested and all councillors are returned without election.  On May 5th the new parish council of Offord Cluny and Offord Darcy becomes fact, with the first AGM on May 8th.  On May 6th Jackie Stanbridge will take up the post of Parish Clerk to the new council.  Being a Qualified Clerk this means that we can now work towards another of our objectives of a Quality Parish Council.

With the AGM on May 8th, when a new chairman will be elected from the new council members, future meetings will use the second Thursday of each month in the Village Hall, when we look forward to seeing members of the public attend our meetings.

Matters ahead of us are the A14 bypass, the Wind Farm at Cotton Farm as well as the acheivement of another of our objectives - The provision of a recreation field for our community.
